The Opportunity
As a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer your role is to provide leadership and expertise in rotating equipment. You will have a broad set of skills which will include various equipment such as centrifugal and positive displacement compression, combustion turbines, and pumping equipment and other oil and gas, chemical and industrial rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer rotating equipment systems suitable for design needs for a reliable, cost effective and efficient operation.
- Select and implement appropriate design for machinery auxiliary systems such as mechanical seal systems, lube oil systems, steam turbine auxiliary systems and combustion turbine auxiliary systems.
- Coordinate with equipment manufacturers to select the most technically acceptable design solutions.
- Utilize leading and current technologies in development of designs.
- Prepare equipment cost estimating and manhours for FEED phase.
- Prepare rotating equipment data sheets, technical specification for bid and purchase.
- Perform bid clarifications / meetings with bidders and prepare technical bid evaluations/summary for equipment.
- Review, interpret, and include client technical specifications in the bid & purchase specifications.
- Lead and coordinate meetings with internal disciplines, external consultants, client, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Participate in client project meetings. Conduct meetings with rotating equipment team working on the project
- Assist juniors to develop their rotating equipment skills.
- Perform Pre-Inspection meetings, shop surveillance, attend inspections & testing on rotating equipment and auxiliary systems in vendor’s shop.
- Participate in design and model reviews, Hazop reviews, constructability review etc.
- Perform vendor drawing reviews.
- Develop construction subcontracts for rotating equipment and other mechanical equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in USA and/or Professional Engineer in Canada
- Experience working in LNG and gas processing projects
- Experience working in Ammonia and Urea plant projects
- Experience working in Hydrogen generation and compression projects
- Experience in selecting and working with all types of pumps in oil & gas and chemical process and ammonia industries.
- Experience in selecting and working with centrifugal and PD gas compressors in oil & gas and ammonia industries.
- Experience in working with Industrial & Aeroderivative type combustion turbines for mechanical drive and generators.
- Experience in working with steam turbines for mechanical drive and generators.
- Experience in working with refrigeration compressors and combustion turbines.
- Experience in working with liquid & gas expanders and pumps in cryogenic service.
- Experience in hydrogen compressor applications.
- Experience with machinery control system requirement, compressor anti-surge protection and performance PLC systems, turbine governor & overspeed trip PLC systems and machine health monitoring systems.
- Experience in purchasing equipment to API 610, 611, 612, 613, 614, 616, 617, 618, 619, 682, 692, 671, 677, 673, 674, 675, 676, 685, 686, 541, 546 standards.
- Experience in purchasing equipment to NEMA SM23, IEEE 841, ASME PTC 10, ASME PTC 22, ASME PTC 6 Codes & Standards.
- Familiar with static equipment & heater API standards and ASME codes.
- Experience is specifying equipment for NACE service and can interpret NACE MR 0175 & NACE MR 0103 standards.
- Experience is attending rotating equipment performance and mechanical run tests in vendor’s shop and well versed in interpreting the test data.
- Experience in writing Rotating Equipment API overlay specifications.
- Experience in material and component selection for rotating equipment.
- Experience with working on projects from early conceptual to detailed engineering and on to project start-up and operations support.
- Experience in the role of lead Rotating Equipment Engineer on larger projects.
- Have mentoring skills and work with and encourage junior staff.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience to handle multiple jobs/projects.
- Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
- Having the following experience will have added advantage:
- Experience in the role of Mechanical Lead Engineer on projects.
- Experience in rotating equipment installation, commissioning & start-up support at site.
- Experience in working in offshore fixed platform and floating vessel projects.
- Experience in workshare with global engineering execution model.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing
- Minimum of 8 years related work experience
