The Opportunity

The Pursuit Manager for APG Services will function in a lead capacity. You will own multiple proposals encompassing services in Advanced Power Generation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:  

 

  • Be an integral part of a multi-functional proposal development team that includes Client Segments, Solutions, Engineering, Estimating, Procurement, Construction, and Business Services.  
  • Manage proposal efforts and incorporate best practices to develop client-centric, visually appealing, and compliant sales documents. 
  • Be responsible for all major proposal efforts which include, but is not limited to, reviewing RFPs to determine client requirements; preparation and assembly of proposals; developing strategy; writing, reviewing, and editing proposals; compiling proposals for submission; and determining resources required to complete major pursuits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts in capacity of a lead. Lead proposal effort on assigned proposals.  Responsible for proposal plan, governance, schedule, budget, and quality. 
  • Collaborates with key internal business partners to develop and implement the proposal win strategy and establish the proposal schedule.  
  • Works with client account manager, managing director, project director, solution lead, engineering, estimating, procurement, project controls, construction operations, and other business support functions as needed to develop the proposal. 
  • Responsible for coordination and integration of reviews by legal, contracts, insurance, finance, treasury, and tax support groups for assigned proposals. 
  • Writes, reviews, and edits proposals.  Ensures content and layout are consistent and comply with brand standards.  Compiles proposals for submission. 
  • Actively implements proposal process improvements, incorporates lessons learned and cost reduction ideas, and analyzes market intelligence of competitors. 
  • Participates in cost review and influences team to provide responses with competitive cost and value. 
  • Facilitates risk determination / mitigation and leadership approval discussions. Supports negotiation and closure of deals. 
  • Facilitates discussion and actions to transition proposal basis information to the project execution team upon award and contract signature. 

Management Responsibilities

Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. 
  • Experience working in an EPC and/or project management firm.  
  • Experience in Advanced Power Generation projects, including gas power, nuclear, hydro, waste to energy, geothermal or similar technologies. 
  • Understanding of pursuits and / or project execution from a background in a previous project execution function (e.g. Engineering, Project Controls, Project Management, Supply Chain, Subcontracts, or Construction). 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of engineering, project execution or technical pursuit management experience
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications

Proposals, sales, and negotiation training preferred. 

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
