Job Summary

Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a professional seeking a career focused on planning and asset management in the water industry, helping to address water supply and aging infrastructure to support sustainable population growth and resilience. The position is structured to help grow the company’s strategic business initiative while allowing meaningful experience in all aspects of the planning and asset management business.

The position will support specific practice areas: stormwater management, flood control, condition assessment services for conveyance/transmission assets, aging infrastructure, and supply planning.

Key Responsibilities

Position Overview

  • Develop and implement operational plans for inspection and rehabilitation of pipelines, dams, levees, reservoirs, pump stations, and facilities.
  • Interpret inspection and assessment results to estimate useful life and recommend rehabilitation and operational measure to extend useful life.
  • Develop and implement programmatic approaches to manage pipeline assessments.
  • Support hydrologic and hydraulic planning and design of stormwater and wet weather improvements, including open channels, storm and combined sewer systems, and stormwater detention/retention facilities.
  • Support water supply planning that provides long-term resilient supplies and mitigates climate change, regulatory uncertainty, aging infrastructure, and population growth/demand changes.
  • Support planning and design of green infrastructure and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPs.
  • Interface with innovative stormwater, water quality, and planning partners to leverage new technologies and approaches for the benefit of our clients.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of water resources planning and/or condition assessment experience
  • Capable of conducting site reconnaissance and remote investigations
  • Ability to orchestrate and advance many activities simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for working with a variety of different types of people
  • Experience implementing pipeline condition assessment technologies
  • Experience developing and executing water resource planning and design projects
  • Proficiency with some or all of the following software applications and models
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
    • ESRI ArcGIS or QGIS
    • AutoCAD
    • HEC-RAS
    • HEC-HMS
    • FLO-2D
    • WaterGEMS
    • WaterHAMMER
  • Experience with regulatory requirements and procedures
  • Support client-facing/business development efforts
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
