Job Summary
Functions as a project director, senior engagement manager, or market strategy director. Drives the process to acquire new clients and engagements, and responsible for all aspects of assigned engagements. Provides technical or industry knowledge to contribute to the completion of all engagement phases, and demonstrates capabilities with minimal oversight. Scope and size of projects or programs they contribute to are generally large in size, high in volume or they may own a significant portion of a larger project. May lead a large size effort or project team. May delegate team work assignments through various phases of an engagement. May have project or program management responsibilities for engagements, including performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction. May have supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project / Program Management
- Serves as a senior project or program manager or director on highly complex or high volume engagements through all stages and phases, with factors that may include: enterprise wide or multiple business units, manager other contractor/vendors on the project, high level of technology integration within the engagement, or cross-functional and/or multi-dimensional teams. May manage multiple projects at one time.
- Manages client expectations within defined scope of engagement. Uses defined processes and practices in assessing engagement risks, and manages engagement issues. Responsible for project budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Market Interface, Solution Integration and Business Development
- Contributes to or leads the development and implementation of the strategic direction and objectives of a Solution.
- Creates leverage and maintains productive key relationships within client organizations, and seeks opportunities with existing or new clients. Actively pursues the acquisition of new engagements. Identifies and addresses critical success factors for complex engagements. Analyzes and aligns solutions with the business objectives.
- Develops or encourages creation of profitable service products to be sold to clients in defined service offerings.
- May be responsible for integrated solutions identification and strategy, leading development of strategic, first-of-a-kind (FOAK) and integrated offerings, and for providing thought leadership, direction, and guidance and insights to enterprise sales and execution teams. Responsible for market strategy development, identifying market trends and new client needs, and creating solutions to address them. Drives pursuit strategy in partnership with the sales and solutions teams.
- Develops internal relationships and collaborates closely with Solution Execution teams and Client segments on opportunity prepositioning, development, and thought leadership, and establishes and cultivates external relationships with clients and partners. Operates as the trusted advisor and thought partner to the sales team. Builds relationships with regional leaders and segment leaders to understand region-specific strategy in response to changing market trends and client needs.
Project Execution
- May serve as an advisor to project execution teams.
- Leads quality reviews of assigned engagements.
Knowledge Management and Continuous Improvement
- May be recognized as a Company/industry expert within a discipline or specialty. Drives knowledge management and knowledge transfer approach. Transfers knowledge, capabilities, and skills to improve others’ knowledge and skill levels. Mentors mid-level and senior professionals.
- Leads continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
Resource Management
- May have a supervisor role to oversee performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions. May participate in compensation management, succession planning, disciplinary actions, employee relations and workforce planning. Supports recruiting efforts.
Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Arts or Science
- Typically 20+ years experience in a business/consulting environment
- 5+ years business development experience
Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts or Science, preferably in business, technology, or engineering OR relevant business experience.
Minimum of 15 years related work experience
