The Opportunity

In this role you will have the opportunity to guide the delivery of our solutions, provide consulting services, and offer expertise and guidance in Grid Transformation with a focus on Grid Modernization Infrastructure and Technologies such as Transmission & Distribution Modernization, Grid Protection, Automation & Control, real-time Utility OT systems, Utility IT systems, and Cybersecurity.


As a Principal Consultant, you will manage and/or participate in a team of business and technology consultants in defining strategy and roadmap, developing solutions and requirements, and supporting clients in their digital transformation (technology, business processes, data, and organizational readiness). This role has an approximate split of 60% delivery performance goal and 40% business development performance goal.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Responsibilities:

  • Manage client engagement for complex, transformational programs
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to define strategy and Grid technology solutions
  • Lead a medium to large size engagement or a project team
  • Provide technical and industry knowledge to contribute to or lead multiple engagements 
  • Lead business process and technical requirement workshops with clients
  • Perform business readiness and change management assessment in support of clients going through technology transformation
  • Apply suitable architectural reference models and frameworks to develop fully solution delivery lifecycle
  • Develop client relationships, being able to multitask while maintaining a track record of producing high quality consulting work products
  • Demonstrate consulting capabilities with minimal level of oversight from more senior level professionals. 
  • Contribute to the improvement of the Infrastructure Transformation Solution team (best practices, team development)


Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the business development process as a subject matter expert (SME)
  • Support client account manager and/or client account partner to understand clients’ business needs and help them to develop compelling presentations, proposals, and Statement of Work (SOW)
  • Promote thought leadership in Grid Transformation, Operational Technologies, and Smart Grid technologies by contributing to white papers, developing partnership opportunities and go-to-market strategies
  • Contribute to development of new solution offerings

Matrix Management Responsibilities:

    • Transfer knowledge, capabilities, and skills to improve others’ knowledge and skill levels.
    • Provide ongoing feedback to professionals on projects and their supervisors. 
      Contribute to the development of others through engagement assignments and general evaluation
    • Delegate work duties according to the development opportunities and needs of individuals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, Information Systems, or similar technical domain 
  • 15 years of experience in Energy and Utilities industry, including 5+ years of Smart Grid and/or Grid Modernization
  • Direct experience in technology implementation and/or business integration of OT-IT systems or Grid Modernization Programs in more than one client
  • Prior experience in business development support, solutions development, and proposals
  • Strong Project Management and Consulting skills
  • Prior experience in managing a consulting team
  • Master’s degree in business or engineering
  • 10 or more years of Smart Grid and/or Grid Modernization experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Solution Architecture, Organizational Change Management, and Business Process Improvement
  • Active Professional Project Manager (PMI-PMP), or active Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Deep knowledge of and direct experience in two or more solution areas: Enterprise IT, ADMS, Distribution Automation, DERMS, Substation Control and Protection systems, or Asset Management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.
  • Has managed significant engagements.
  • 10+ years in a business/consulting environment.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
