The Site Crane and Rigging Superintendent (SCRS) serves as the primary authority responsible for the safe, compliant, and effective execution of crane and rigging operations at the project site. The SCRS acts as the central point of accountability between site teams and corporate Crane and Rigging leadership, ensuring all lifting activities are properly planned, executed, evaluated, and documented in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversight of Crane Inspections

Ensure all cranes on site receive required annual, monthly, and frequent inspections in accordance with manufacturer requirements, OSHA regulations, and company policy. Verify inspection documentation is accurate, current, and properly maintained. Confirm deficiencies are corrected prior to crane use and remove equipment from service when safety concerns arise.

Lift Director Responsibilities

Serve as the designated Lift Director for critical and complex lifts. Oversee planning, review, and execution of lift plans, lead pre-lift meetings, verify rigging configurations and load calculations, and stop operations if unsafe conditions develop.

Rigging Evaluation Oversight

Oversee the rigging competency and evaluation program. Ensure riggers are evaluated, documented, and assigned tasks consistent with their competency level. Submit rigging evaluations and address gaps through coaching or retraining.

Compliance and Coordination

Coordinate with the Corporate Crane and Rigging Department to submit inspections, lift plans, certifications, and rigging evaluations. Ensure compliance with company policy, OSHA, ASME, and manufacturer requirements.

Central Accountability Role

Serve as the single point of accountability for crane and rigging operations. Act as liaison between project management, site supervision, crane crews, and corporate leadership while promoting a strong safety culture.

Authority

Stop any crane or rigging operation deemed unsafe or non-compliant and require revisions to plans, methods, or assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

Construction Management or Engineering degree. Training on reporting safety, cost, quality, and schedule information. Construction management and contract administration training.

Minimum Qualifications

1+ years experience of construction field leadership on equivalent projects. Valid Driver's License. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications

OSHA 10 certification.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Physical Demands:
• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. 
• Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
• See and hear naturally or with correction.   
• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. 
• Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure. 
• Requires repetitive movement. 
• May require work above 5 feet in height.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds. 
• Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

• Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions. 
• Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. 
• Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions 
• Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. 
• Work around hazardous equipment.
• Typical office environment.
• This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
