Job Summary

Performs globally complex shop and site inspections to determine acceptance and/or rejection of work performed in a variety of disciplines in compliance with applicable codes, standards and/or specifications.  Monitors schedules and provides subject matter expertise and technical guidance to others.  Actively promotes effective implementation of policies and standards in support of projects.  Directs staff or third party/agency quality professionals on assigned inspections.  Directs development of or revisions to policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Receives and reviews inspection documentation packages.  Contacts the respective Requisitioning Engineer to determine unique technical requirements or concerns prior to initiating inspection.  
• Coordinates travel schedule in support of project schedules and suppliers’ fabrication/testing schedules, to maximize inspection efficiencies.
• Conducts complex inspections in accordance with project requirements, codes and standards, inspection packages and Requisitioning Engineer requests.   Inspections may involve complex materials (e.g.: titanium, P91, other alloys) or equipment (e.g.: compressors, transformers, heat exchangers, etc.).  These inspections could include:  pre-fabrication meetings, in-process inspections, witnessing factory acceptance tests, Q.C. documentation reviews, final inspections and/or pre-shipment inspections.  Inspections may include welding inspections, dimensional examinations, equipment alignment inspections, coating examinations and Non-Destructive testing or oversight of testing by suppliers or other third parties.
• Performs receipt inspections of goods at supplier’s facilities as well as at construction site to determine compliance with requirements, verifies certified material test records.
• Verifies welding and welding documentation, applied coatings and linings meets code and specification requirements including review of Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) records
• Advises issues discovered during the inspection that could jeopardize the safety, integrity or acceptance of the items inspected and ensures appropriate and timely resolution of such. 
• Determines any non-conformances, participates in consultative corrective actions, and ensures appropriate resolution and documentation occur.
• Prepares, reviews and/or generates records, reports, correspondence, and other documentation as required in compliance with procedures including identifying and assessing improvement opportunities
• Mentors and provides technical direction.

Preferred Qualifications

BE/B.Tech in Engineering or Construction or equivalent geographical qualification in a related discipline degree (preferred)

Minimum of 15 years with a degree,.
Certification in ASNT Level II for at least UT, RT, MT and PT is mandatory. Certification in discipline (e.g.: American Welding Society (AWS), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Institute for Supply Management (ISM)) or relevant geographical equivalent certification is preferred

Typical office environment. Typical construction site environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards including atmospheric conditions. Typical fabrication shop environment, high noise level, safety hazards including atmospheric conditions. Sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, climbing and standing for extended periods of time, lifting up to 25 pounds, driving. Typical traveling activities, including commercial airline flights.
