Job Summary

Functions as a technology leader, department manager or administrative leader, in a role that implements design technology within the engineering strategy. May have influence in developing strategy. Responsible for execution of assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Executes projects using commercial plant design tools or AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Operations) software to deliver the engineering deliverables to include:
    • Operating Procedures and working instructions
    • Inter discipline modelling approach and execution
    • Engineering requirements and input for configuring the commercial plant design system for multiple related engineering disciplines and tool sets
  • Setup, maintain and provide guidance on global work sharing with plant design software
  • Analyze software issues, suggest workarounds where possible, and report bugs to software vendors when appropriate
  • Support multiple complex projects spanning multiple business lines (O&G, P/G, PD) with multiple engineering disciplines and tool sets
  • Interact with clients for project turnover
  • Coordinate training and support across multiple offices and regions
  • Identify cost saving opportunities on projects
  • Evaluate new features and functions in COTS design tools in concert with the design process owners and subject matter experts
  • Establish, maintain and support a problem tracking system that not only expedites problem resolution, but also provides a means of capturing and classifying bugs, defects and opportunities for improvement
  • Identify and coordinate all multi-discipline Bentley tool training needs within B&V Energy
  • Clearly communicate strategy to management and the user community
  • Owns new Project setup and maintenance
  • Interfaces design tools with additional related software products
  • Plans and implements software upgrade to minimize impact on project execution
  • Continues expanding knowledge to multiple tools across a suite of tools
  • Develops knowledge of multiple commercial design tools
  • Continues expanding knowledge to multiple B&V technologies and/or business lines
  • Identified as a SME across multiple disciplines, multiple tool sets, and multiple business lines
  • Identifies cost / time saving opportunities through custom applications and gathers requirements to define scope of new tool
  • Represent the business line  on enterprise-wide committees related to COTS design tool configuration and administration
  • Directs software development of custom applications 
  • Lead the development and implementation of all multi-discipline tools to be utilized within a business line 
  • Reviews and provides feedback to process owners on changes required due to new plant design software
  • Suggests improvements to processes/standards based on use of commercial plant design software
  • Reviews and suggests improvements to processes, standards, and guides based on an depth knowledge of multiple design tools
  • Provides input to existing and new process spanning multiple disciplines or multiple tool sets 
  • Accountability for process ownership
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies in the area of responsibility and evaluate potential application  through processes and standards of those technologies
  • Support process owners in evaluation of commercial applications, including recommendations for selection
  • Works with B&V's 3rd party software vendors to setup, maintain, and upgrade databases, networks and servers to support commercial plant design software
  • Reviews and suggests relational database changes to improve functionality of plant design system
  • Architects systems / networks for new and existing tools
  • To the extent practical, ensure configuration consistency across projects within the business line and consistent with other Business Lines
  • Oversees preemptive monitoring and analysis of systems / networks

Minimum Qualifications

Typically a minimum of 15 plus years related work experience.
