Job Summary
Functions as a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Technician, technical design specialist, and/or lead designer responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of I&C engineering design deliverables for Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) projects / Offshore Projects.
Applies advanced technical expertise and industry standards to develop complex instrumentation, control system, telecommunications, fire & gas, and automation design solutions while supporting project schedules, quality requirements, and interdisciplinary coordination. Adapted from the Senior Engineering Technician framework.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Engineering
- Prepare and review detailed I&C engineering deliverables for FLNG facilities.
- Develop and maintain:
- Instrument Location Plans
- Instrument Installation Details
- Cable Routing Layouts
- Cable Schedules
- Junction Box Layouts
- Interconnection Diagrams
- Loop Drawings
- Hook-up Drawings
- Control Room Layouts
- Marshalling Cabinet Layouts
- Telecom and Fire & Gas System Drawings
- Cable Tray Sizing
- Resource planning & scheduling
- Review IHR Layout
- Package Review
- Interdisciplinary co-ordination
- Drive Model review 30/60/90
- Utilize Smart Plant / Aveva E3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, BIM, and 3D modelling platforms for engineering deliverables.
- Perform design calculations, material take-offs, and quantity estimates.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, company procedures, international codes, and client standards.
- Offshore project execution experience
- Review engineering inputs and outputs for completeness and accuracy.
- Provide technical guidance and direction to designers and engineering technicians.
- Experience of Client & Project Coordination
Required Technical Knowledge:
- Instrumentation design for LNG/FLNG facilities.
- DCS, PLC, SIS, ESD, F&G, SCADA, and telecommunications systems.
- Hazardous area classification requirements.
- Instrument installation and field construction practices.
- Cable engineering and routing methodologies.
- Control system architecture development.
- Engineering standards such as IEC, ISA, API, NFPA, and project-specific specifications. 3D model review and clash resolution processes.

Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or associate degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline preferred.
- Typically, 20+ years of relevant I&C design and engineering technician experience.
- Demonstrated experience in LNG, FLNG, Offshore, Oil & Gas, or large industrial projects.
- Experience with multidisciplinary detail engineering projects.
- Advanced technical expertise in I&C design.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior staff.
- Strong understanding of FLNG engineering interfaces.
- Schedule, quality, and budget awareness.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Problem-solving and technical decision-making capability.
