Job Summary

Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity open to Engineers interested in infrastructure Condition Assessment. Within our Condition Assessment business, we have seen consistent growth driven by our clients’ needs to address aging infrastructure challenges.  A major issue is the need to better understand asset conditions and performance so that investment can be planned effectively. This position focuses on providing project support to our West region clients in managing the asset lifecycle of their pipelines and facilities, through gathering vital condition and performance information and providing solutions to manage and mitigate damage of existing infrastructure through rehabilitation, maintenance, and replacement. This position is part of a broader initiative at Black & Veatch aimed towards assisting our clients with extending the service life of their infrastructure. 

 

Location: Northern California (Walnut Creek/Sacramento/San Jose) – hybrid    #LI-SN1

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safely planning and managing field-based asset condition and performance evaluations of water, wastewater and stormwater vertical and buried infrastructure. 
  • Undertake the coordination and logistical support to multi-disciplinary teams, including solving field work related logistical challenges 
  • Manage the structuring, storage and utilization of diverse data and asset information 
  • Provide input on condition assessment data interpretation including ability to clearly communicate findings through technical reports. 
  • Provide technical expertise on pipeline inspection and facility assessment techniques and rehabilitation options. 
  • Contribute to the development of repair, refurbishment, and replacement alternatives and designs. 
  • Collaborate closely with Strategic Asset Management and Maintenance Management teams. 
  • Support business development activities and the development of technical content for marketing activities. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE license (or working towards obtaining PE) 
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in water and/or wastewater facilities and/or buried infrastructure. 
  • Expertise in Water, and Wastewater, including: 
  • Field inspection planning, inspection technology selection, data interpretation, and repair/refurbishment/replacement recommendations. 
  • Familiarity with internal and external assessment technologies and non-destructive testing techniques. 
  • Experience managing consultant field staff and coordinating with client operations and engineering teams. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
