Duties

Serving as the responsible charge for a project. Attending site visits to document existing conditions for improvement proposals. Preparing a variety of complex engineering deliverables within the civil discipline, such as existing/proposed site plans, paving, grading and drainage plans, stormwater pollution prevention plans, details, specifications, and preliminary design reports. Evaluating alternatives for wastewater collection and transmission systems for conversion from septic to sewer. Overseeing collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Performing complex research using publicly available databases, such as GIS Open Data hubs, e-permitting databases from FDEP, SFWMD, LWDD websites, among others, for data analysis to use in different applications. Creating complex GIS maps. Delineating basins and creating input files for the development of stormwater models. Running different model scenarios and analyzing model results. Writing reports with conclusions. Designing watermains, sanitary sewers, forcemains, and subaqueous mains. Evaluating directional drill paths and pit locations. Preparing complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles, such as developing system curves for new or existing pump stations, and pre vs. post calculations to comply with SFWMDs water quality requirements, among others. Developing recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection, such as pump selections for water or wastewater applications. Preparing permit applications for different agencies, including FDEP, ACOE, FDOT, and regional agencies, such as Palm Beach County, Land Development and Building Departments, and responding to comments. Developing rating systems for prioritization of capital improvement projects. Creating water models for estimating fire demands. Preparing quantity takeoffs for developing Engineer’s Opinion of Probable Construction Costs. Managing assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Conducting high level of field inspections as part of Construction Administration Services type of projects, and coordinating with Contractors on project progress. Reviewing shop drawing submittals. Attending progress meetings, monitoring progress vs. schedule, reviewing pay applications. Checking lower-level engineering work or assignments. Leading smaller production teams. Actively coordinating with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects. Assisting with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required. No hire/fire authority. Requirements

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related discipline, and three years of related experience, or, in the alternative, Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related discipline, plus five years of related experience. Must have the Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Qualified Inspector certification from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.   Must have experience with the following software tools: Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Streamline Technologies Interconnected Channel and Pond Routing (ICPR) Model-Version 4, Autodesk InfoWater Pro, and Microsoft Office and Teams. Must have experience with the following search tools: SFWMD DBhydro, SFWMD ERP Record Search, GIS Open Data hubs, e-permitting databases from FDEP, SFWMD, LWDD, or similar. Local travel required (up to 10%). Telecommuting is permissible within a reasonable commuting distance from the West Palm Beach, FL BV office. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English. High level of attention to detail and the ability to organize and analyze large amounts of information is required.
