Duties

Design mechanical systems supporting Water & Wastewater Treatment processes. Collaborate with various design engineering execution teams across the US and abroad, functioning in a supporting engineer capacity. Under general supervision, perform all aspects of design engineering tasks for the assigned systems of responsibility. Utilize skills, knowledge, and experience to design pumping, surge systems, piping systems through calculations, system modeling, design coordination, specification, drawing development and related engineering tasks associated with equipment and systems used in water and wastewater treatment facilities. Perform calculations which include system pressure drop and head requirements in the pumped system, piping sizing based on velocity criteria, and equipment sizing. Perform transient analysis including modeling hydraulic systems and analyzing the data to determine the proper design requirements for the system such as surge tanks and the related compressed air requirements, control valve requirements, air vacuum and relief valve requirements and locations, and other design parameters. Perform Mechanical System design for water/wastewater projects. Perform engineering calculations to develop equipment and system performance parameters for the purpose of sizing equipment. Create hydraulic system models to determine system design parameters and requirements. Coordinate with equipment manufacturers to select the most technically acceptable design solutions. Follow company and industry design practices in development of designs. Develop engineering work products including Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), Mechanical arrangement drawings, and Equipment, Piping, and Valve specifications. Review manufacturer's or contractor's submittals, data, reports, etc., for conformance with Black & Veatch criteria. Coordinate with other design disciplines and project stakeholders. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, plus at least one year of related experience.  Must have experience designing and engineering Clean Utilities (Steam, RODI and WFI Systems) from concept to completion resulting in increased operational efficiency and reduced operating costs. Must have experience utilizing data evaluation techniques, CFD simulation, hydraulic analysis, energy balance and modeling to enhance performance of process systems. Must have experience reviewing and refining existing system designs, identifying key areas for improvement, and implementing data-driven solutions. Must have experience developing comprehensive construction packages, P&ID’s and specifications while fostering clear and efficient communication within cross-disciplined project teams. Must have experience ensuring compliance with specifications and project schedules, leading to consistently successful project deliveries. Must have experience designing process utilities gas system (CCA, CO2, LN2) for complex engineering design and building projects in compliance with industry and regulatory guidelines. Must have experience utilizing the following software: Bluebeam, CAD, and ANSYS Fluent. Must have experience utilizing hydraulic modeling software. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments. Up to 10% regional travel may be required.
