Functions as an electrical technical specialist. Independently in this role provides solutions to specific electrical problems and works with the electrical discipline lead in order to develop technical documentation to support a project/ study or bid.
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for developing electrical calculations, design drawings, specifications, cable schedule, raceway schedules and installation drawings. He/she is responsible for ensuring all project procedures are in place and are being followed within his/her discipline and area of work.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Design Electrical Engineer accountable for managing engineering design for small to large complex projects, including engineering schedule and budget performance, quality of engineering solutions and deliverables, and close coordination with procurement and construction professionals.
• Coordination with multidiscipline teams including peer engineering and BIM+ technical staff in global regional design centers and local office.
• Development of electrical drawing deliverables including single line diagrams, schematics, interconnection diagrams, and equipment layouts
• Development of electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials for procurement and construction
• Extensive use of Microsoft Office business systems such as ProjectWise, electrical engineering software, such as ETap, and Computer Aided Drafting Tools, such as AutoCAD to view and manipulate engineering drawing files
Ensure that procedures are followed, Coordinate work done in other offices/disciplines and Provide feedback on areas for improvement to Electrical Lead.
Mentors and teaches design engineers and technicians.
Assists in the preparation of project proposals, including: engineering and construction cost estimates, the planning of project approach, conceptual design, budgeting and scheduling.
Promotes a quality focused culture and effectively implements Black & Veatch’s thorough quality assurance program.
Develops strong relationships with and becomes a trusted partner with clients. Responsible for identifying key client interests and drivers on projects. Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate those objectives. Works to identify future client needs and how to better position B&V to best serve those needs.
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
Comply with Project Design Criteria, follow design procedures and best practices, comply with applicable and B&V’s standards, follow up on major design issues within discipline
HSEC: Ensure all applicable HSEC in design criteria are met
Project Control System: Report progress for compliance with schedules to Electrical Lead
QA/QC: Arrange for quality control reviews and follow up on QC comments and complete documentation
Internal audits: Address Corrective Action Requests within discipline
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 6 years related work experience. Medium English notions on speaking and writing. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
EPC project execution experience as discipline lead.
