Job Summary
As a Fleet Technician, you’ll play an important role in keeping construction equipment safe, reliable, and ready to support project teams. In this hands-on role, you’ll perform basic planned maintenance, complete equipment inspections, and support check-in/check-out activities for fleet assets. You’ll work alongside experienced fleet technicians and equipment managers, gaining exposure to fleet operations while helping reduce downtime, maintain accurate records, and ensure equipment is prepared for successful deployment to construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
Perform basic planned maintenance tasks such as checking fluids, greasing equipment, inspecting filters, and completing visual safety inspections in alignment with fleet standards.
Support equipment check-in and check-out activities at fleet yards, maintenance facilities, and project sites to help keep assets moving efficiently.
Inspect equipment as it is received or returned, documenting condition, damage, and completeness to support accurate fleet records.
Use approved fleet and equipment management systems to capture inspection photos, maintenance notes, and equipment observations.
Help prepare equipment for scheduled preventative maintenance by cleaning, staging, and identifying potential service needs.
Communicate maintenance or safety concerns to fleet technicians, supervisors, or equipment managers so issues can be addressed quickly.
Ensure equipment is clean, properly labeled, and ready for transport, redeployment, or use by project teams.
Assist with equipment demobilization, return, and reconciliation activities to support smooth transitions between projects.
Verify equipment serial numbers, attachments, and accessories against dispatch and return documentation to help maintain inventory accuracy.
Maintain accurate equipment status and condition records that support utilization, maintenance planning, and overall fleet readiness.
Follow fleet safety, compliance, and operational procedures while working in yard, shop, and active jobsite environments.
Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Automotive or diesel certification, degree, or related technical training preferred.
Experience working with construction, diesel, and heavy equipment is preferred.
Basic understanding of equipment maintenance, inspections, and safe work practices.
Comfort using mobile devices, digital inspection tools, or maintenance tracking systems.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow standard processes.
Willingness to work in yard, shop, and jobsite environments under varying weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 3 years of Mechanic experience that is considered a B level Technician with a strong working knowledge of mechanics.
- A combination of school and work experience is acceptable.
- Must have working knowledge of industrial construction equipment, machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Unristristriced drivers license and clean MVR.
- Must have all necessary tools.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Position will require the possession of or obtaining a Class A CDL (within 6 months of hire).
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment
- Travel may be required.
- Typically, a mixture of office, warehouse, laydown yard, and construction project site environment.
- Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
- Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
- Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions
- Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
- Work around hazardous equipment.
- Requires exposure to high places.
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas, see and hear naturally or with correction.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
- Requires repetitive movement.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12-hour shift, doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
