Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer
Location: Glasgow or London (Hybrid Working)
Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to support the design and delivery of major energy, power generation, grid infrastructure and industrial projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing engineering team delivering projects that are helping shape the future of energy. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams on technically challenging assignments, providing specialist engineering expertise while developing innovative solutions for clients across the UK and potentially internationally.

Key Responsibilities
What You'll Be Doing: - As a Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer, you will:
- Lead and deliver Instrumentation & Control engineering activities across multiple projects.
- Develop engineering designs, specifications and technical deliverables from concept through detailed design.
- Prepare and review:
- Control philosophies and narratives
- Instrumentation specifications
- Control system architecture drawings
- Functional design specifications
- Calculations and technical reports
- Equipment procurement packages
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and designers.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, process and civil engineering disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Perform complex engineering analysis, troubleshooting and system evaluations.
- Support equipment selection, vendor engagement and technical bid evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, industry codes, client requirements and Black & Veatch quality processes.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and project planning activities.
- Support commissioning, testing and start-up activities where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, technical innovation and knowledge sharing across the organisation.

- Functional Safety and Control System Architecture
- Digitalisation and Smart Infrastructure Projects
Minimum Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- We typically require circa 5 years of Instrumentation & Control engineering experience.
- Experience delivering engineering design work on energy, industrial, utilities or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of instrumentation, control systems and engineering principles.
- Experience producing technical deliverables with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and technical reporting skills.
- Ability to mentor and support developing engineers.
Certifications
Professional Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards professional registration is preferred but not essential.
- Membership of a recognised engineering institution highly desirable
