The Opportunity
Working under general direction, the Business Data Management Specialist partners with business and technical stakeholders to translate needs into scalable reporting, automation, and data solutions. The role supports data governance, master data practices, business requirements, solution design, user acceptance testing, documentation, and adoption while helping maintain trusted sources of information.
This opportunity is well suited for a collaborative problem solver who can connect business context with technical delivery, manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, and continuously improve solutions through analytics, automation, and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business objectives, information needs, process challenges, and desired outcomes; translate them into clear, prioritized business and technical requirements.
- Define use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, data definitions, and process flows for enterprise reporting, analytics, automation, and business-application solutions.
- Design, develop, enhance, and support reports, dashboards, scorecards, and analytical solutions using Microsoft Power BI and related business intelligence tools.
- Develop front-end, metadata, data-model, integration, and ETL specifications that support reliable reporting and sustainable solution delivery.
- Support master data management and data governance activities, including standards, stewardship, documentation, data-quality monitoring, issue resolution, and maintenance of trusted sources of information.
- Analyze business processes and data to identify root causes, resolve discrepancies, and recommend improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and business value.
- Create technical specifications and scope information evaluation of effort, dependencies, risks, and solution options.
- Coordinate and perform user acceptance testing.
- Collaborate with IT operations to ensure solutions are secure, well documented, strategically aligned, maintainable, and sustainable.
- Build and support business solutions and workflow automation using Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Teams, and related Microsoft technologies.
- Support modern data and analytics platforms, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, SQL Server, and associated tools.
- Produce clear documentation for requirements, data flows, business rules, procedures, support models, and technical configurations.
- Provide training, guidance, and user support for data processes, reporting solutions, automation, and business applications.
- Monitor solution performance and business outcomes and perform ad hoc analysis.
- Evaluate emerging capabilities, including Microsoft Copilot and AI-enabled solutions.
- Manage assigned work within an iterative, agile delivery approach.
Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Typically 4-6 years of related experience in data management, business intelligence, analytics, reporting, business systems, or process improvement.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting, analytics, automation, or application solutions.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, SQL Server, Python, and Copilot.
- Experience supporting data governance, master data management, data quality, and single-source-of-truth reporting.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Microsoft Planner, or similar work-management platforms.
- Experience across the solution lifecycle, including requirements, testing, deployment, adoption, and support.
- Relevant certifications in Microsoft technologies, analytics, business analysis, or project management.
