The Opportunity

Under general direction, formulates and defines business process systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications. Guides and advises less-experienced Business Systems Analysts. Competent to work at the highest technical level of most phases of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. Reports to the Business Process Technology Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify, analyze, and prioritize complex business process, data, reporting, and technology needs. Translate business objectives into effective technology-enabled solutions that improve operational efficiency, decision-making, and business outcomes.
  • Lead requirements gathering, solution design, implementation planning, and production support for business applications, analytics, reporting, automation, and data management solutions. Research, evaluate, and recommend solutions that align with business needs, corporate standards, and long-term support considerations.
  • Assess business processes, operational needs, and technology capabilities to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop recommendations that support process optimization, data quality, reporting effectiveness, governance objectives, and organizational goals.
  • Partner with business subject matter experts and innovation teams to implement, support, and continuously improve technology solutions while ensuring alignment with corporate architecture, security, compliance, and operational standards.
  • Provide input on best practices, standards, and procedures related to business applications, data management, reporting, analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. Develop and deliver training, user guidance, and educational materials to promote effective adoption and utilization of technology solutions.
  • Collaborate across Black & Veatch to support strategic initiatives, solve complex business and technology challenges, and drive continuous improvement of business processes, reporting capabilities, data assets, and technology solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with business process analysis, data analysis, reporting, automation, or technology solution delivery.
  • Experience developing low-code/no-code solutions, dashboards, reports, or workflow automations is preferred.

    • Artificial Intelligence and automation technologies, including Microsoft Copilot and Power Platform AI capabilities

Preferred Experience

Experience designing and supporting enterprise reporting, analytics, automation, and business process improvement solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform and Power BI. Experience partnering with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process optimization, self-service analytics, and data-driven decision making.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. 7-8 years experience. Work Environment/Physical Demands

Compensation Transparency

In accordance with local requirements, the annual compensation ranges for this role are listed below by state or jurisdiction and reflect the applicable office location(s) within each. Final compensation is determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, internal alignment, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.

$95,612 - $167,332

  • State of Minnesota:

$91,266 - $159,726
